Circuit Paul Ricard

Azure Classic Tour 2021 incorporating the Dix Mille Tours

Dates

23-29 March 2021

Join us from March 23rd-29th 2021 for our brand-new Azure Classic Tour.  The Tour includes a three-day classic car driving experience starting in St. Paul De Vence and culminating with the finest race viewing hospitality packages for the Dix Mille Tours 2021 weekend at Paul Ricard Circuit, in the South of France.

DAY ONE
Tuesday. Your private transfer will collect you from Nice Airport for the short journey to our boutique hotel. This superbly refurbished 18th century country house will win you over with its bright and airy rooms, swimming pool, jacuzzi and superb views of the village of Saint Paul de Vence and the distant sea. The hotel epitomises Provence – sun-drenched, bright and modern. In the early evening it's time to meet your fellow guests for a drinks reception and then dinner at a local Michelin Star restaurant.

The provencal-style bedrooms are tastefully decorated and some have a panoramic view of Saint-Paul de Vence

DAY TWO

Wednesday. The French Riviera is one of the most beautiful places in the world to enjoy from behind the wheel of a classic sports car. Our fleet of classics will be waiting at the hotel for you after breakfast and check-out. With a full three day driving experience ahead there is plenty of time to get to know each car.

Today’s spectacular route will take us through Cannes and St. Maxime to our lunch stop in St. Tropez. In the afternoon we will enjoy a gentle cruise to Provence, through Grimaud and Les Arcs, with planned breaks along the way for photos and afternoon tea, before arriving at our 5* chateau hotel for the second evening.

DAY THREE
Thursday. After breakfast and check-out, this morning’s drive takes us to Gorges De Verdon. The deepest gorge in France, one of the must-see natural wonders of central Provence. While there is no road up the gorge, there is a breath-taking circular "corniche" route around the rim of the gorge for us to enjoy. We will be stopping for lunch at a superb restaurant beside the azure waters of the lake.

The 'Grand Canyon' - Provencal style!

After lunch we drive to Aix-en-Provence, a city that combines the elegance of Paris with the warmth of Southern France. Distinguished by its shady tree-lined streets, historic squares and ornate fountains, it's a perfect place for an afternoon stroll, with countless cafes and shops to peruse.

After dinner at a historic local restaurant, we will spend tonight at our next charming Provencal hotel, once described as “A haven of peace, right in the heart of the old capital of Provence”

DAY FOUR
Friday. The final day of our classic sports car driving experience takes us from Aix-en-Provence, south, to Cassis. This picturesque old fishing village has the vibrant ambience of a Mediterranean seaport combined with the traditional charm of Provence. It's a favourite getaway for residents of Marseilles seeking an escape to an idyllic setting. The village enjoys a protected location on a semi-circular bay framed by mountains. Because of its natural beauty, Cassis became an artists' village that attracted many famous painters including Vlaminck, Derain, Dufy, and Matisse.

No classic car tour through France would be complete without a visit to a vineyard and that’s the next stop en-route. Having stocked up with your favourite vintage at the chateaux, it’s just a short drive to our hotel for the next 3-nights. Situated in the historic village of Gemenos, the 4* Hotel La Magdeleine is an 18th-century house set on the edge of a park amongst lavender and olive trees. All the rooms open onto the garden or terrace and are equipped with spacious bathrooms.

Dinner this evening is in the hotel’s elegant restaurant, where you will enjoy refined cuisine from the Provence region along with superb local wines.

DAY FIVE & DAY SIX
Saturday & Sunday: Our attention now turns to the main event of the weekend, the Dix Mille Tours at Paul Ricard Circuit. Built in 1969 at Le Castellet, near Marseille, the track is famous for its 1.8km long Mistral Straight. The mild winter weather in the South of France offers a great opportunity for motorsport teams to test their cars pre-season and makes it a perfect location for some early season sunshine and race weekends, such as the Dix Mille Tours.

First held in 2010, the weekend is devoted to different periods of classic motorsport and includes races for GTs, Sports cars, Prototypes and Touring cars, with nine classes telling the history of motor sport on track: Fifties’ Legends, Sixties’ Endurance, 2.0L Cup, Classic Endurance Racing I & II, Endurance Racing Legends, Group C Racing, Heritage Touring Cup and The Greatest’s Trophy.

The presence of the many car clubs at Le Castellet adds to the excitement behind the scenes.  300+ historic cars are driven to the inside of the circuit where they are displayed and take part in track runs, during the lunch breaks.

An incredible line-up of classic racing machinery awaits at Paul Ricard
